Miscellaneous and Metal

Moggy loves the old radiators in this house.

Afraid it must be a short, flimsy post day. I’ve just got too much to do, but hopefully the work will provide fodder for tomorrow’s post. Then I get the weekend off. =)

Although I don’t exactly have a massive and varied readership quite yet, I’d like to put a few things on the table for your consideration and feedback. I’m trying to think of ways to both structure this blog and make it interesting to readers. I’m thinking of theming the days of the week, or maybe two or three days of the week. Like, “Money Monday” to blog about frugality and saving on Mondays, that sort of thing. Based on the basic thrust of the blog so far, does anyone have any thoughts on this? I was thinking maybe Money Monday, something specific for Wednesday, and then using Friday to make a get-you-through-the-weekend post containing interesting links to other blogs and sites with content similar to mine. Tuesday and Thursday can be anything days. Thoughts?

Whatever the case, the metal stays. That’s really just for me and my enjoyment. I mean, I hope someone reading this also enjoys it, but it’s fun for me and that’s important. And, in fact, here’s your metal for today:

Iron maiden – The Trooper

You know, even if you’re not a fan of metal, you should give the videos I post a little 30 second sample, at least. You never know what you might end up liking. Today’s video—a little Iron Maiden—is a perfect example. I honestly can’t wrap my head around anyone not liking Maiden. They are, undoubtedly, one of the very best metal bands, ever. They just are. Between Steve Harris’s galloping rhythms and Bruce Dickenson’s trademark vibrato—and all else in between—it doesn’t make sense to me that anyone could not at least say “Well, it’s catchy.” You just can’t listen to The Trooper and not find yourself, if not headbanging, certainly dropping a nod or two (or the whole song).

  1. I like the sound of Money Monday….maybe Wednesday could be Wacky Wednesday and you could write about whatever wacky thoughts you have rolling around in your head of which I believe there are probably many!

Or you could do a Wordless Wednesday and post a photograph on those days? I usually can’t do a completely “wordless” Wednesday, and the photo usually has a description or comment accompanying it, but it is a fairly easy post idea. :)

  3. I agree with the previous comments. Although I’m inconsistent on my days of the week, I rotate between them when I do. For example, I have Food Fridays sometimes, and I also have Flashback Fridays. So rotating your Wednesdays that same way would be smart and give you more ideas for the blog.
I like the metal and am glad you’re keeping it. It makes it such a catchy blog title, too. It’s special and unique because of that blend of homesteading and heavy metal.
I’m glad you’re trying to get a regular and “in your lane” feel for the blog early. I’ve taken mine so far afield that it’s hard to get a steady demographic of followers.

Oh, there was no doubt the metal would stay. ;)

I’m not sure if my demographic blends well. Basically, I’m writing for people like me. I like a lot of the homesteady, DYI, indy-living blogs, but they are all so very deeply maternally feminine, or just ultra feminine in a way that I am not, as illustrated by my love of metal and, say, horror flicks. And my lack of kids. I just know there’s got to be more folks out there that are perfectly unashamed of the compromise between something like their love of metal and their love of living this sort of lifestyle. I guess that’s what I’m aiming for…

KEEP THE METAL…MORE METAL… I do a Podcast with Heather Taddy and our show, KETTLE WHISTLE RADIO is all about MUSIC, HORROR, COMICS…and all of them seem to spiral toward one common goal/love/theme….METAL!!

You! Thank you for reminding me to respond to Chris’s FB message…haha…
And thanks for your feedback. Still working on merging these seemingly disparate ideas—indy living and metal. I don’t know if they really *can * be merged, but we’ll see. =)

I for one, like that aim Kris…..just saying!
